| Abstract: | ABSTRACT. The pattern calculus described in this paper integrates the functional mechanism of the lambda-calculus with the capabilities of finitary pattern matching algorithms. We propose a generic confluence proof, where the way pattern abstractions are applied in a non-deterministic calculus is axiomatized. Instances of the matching function are presented. |
