Welcome to the 27th IEEE Computer Security Foundations Symposium (CSF)!

This year we are fortunate to be part of FLoC 2014, the Logic in Computer Science / Federated Logic Conference, which brings together several international conferences in mathematical logic and computer science. FLoC, in turn, is part of VSL, the Vienna Summer of Logic, which is the largest event in the history of logic. VSL consists of twelve large conferences and numerous workshops and expects attendance from 2500 researchers from all over the world. Three workshops are affiliated with CSF: ASA7, FCS-FCC'14 and STAST 2014. We encourage attendees to take advantage of the many opportunities for interaction and collaboration that co-location provides: attend sessions from other conferences and workshops, and engage with researchers from other areas.

The Computer Security Foundations Workshop was created in 1988 as a workshop of the IEEE Computer Science Technical Committee on Security and Privacy. In 2007, the workshop became an IEEE Symposium, with a policy for open, increased attendance. Over the years, many seminal papers and techniques have been presented first at CSF. For more information about CSF, please see http://www.ieee-security.org/CSFWweb/.

A total of 109 abstracts were submitted this year to CSF, 83 of which subsequently had full papers submitted. Abstracts were due one week before the full papers. Of the 83 full papers, the program committee accepted 29 papers, which appear in this volume. This is an acceptance rate of approximately 35%.

There are many people who contributed to the successful organization and running of CSF 2014 and we are thankful to all of them. Anupam Datta and Cédric Fournet chaired the program committee, and did a wonderful job producing the technical program, with the hard work of the program committee and external reviewers. Publications Chair Deepak Garg has smoothly and efficiently handled the production of the proceedings. Publicity Chair Matteo Maffei sent out timely calls for papers and workshop proposals. Federico De Meo set up and maintained the website of CSF 2014. The CSF Steering Committee provided guidance and feedback. Paula Anderson of the IEEE Computer Society has been incredibly helpful in organizing CSF.

We are especially grateful to the organizers of FLoC (Helmut Veith, Matthias Baaz, Moshe Y. Vardi and Stefan Szeider) and all the members of the organizing committee of VSL (co-chaired by Matthias Baaz, Thomas Eiter and Helmut Veith) that has handled the general organization including all local arrangements for all co-located conferences and workshops. We greatly appreciate their work in putting together the largest event in the history of logic and are proud to be a part of it.

We thank the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Security and Privacy for their support and sponsorship. And thank you to the authors and attendees of CSF 2014.

Enjoy CSF, FLoC and VSL!
